Putting Summer in a Box

(a form change poem with thanks to Bobbi Katz for “What Shall I Pack in the Box Marked ‘Summer’?)

I’m putting the spring toads away,

And the warm breeze away,

And the colored butterflies away,

And the warm pool is getting put away,

And I’m putting the grass that’s so soft in the box.

I’m putting the smell of flowers away.

I’m going to put the seeing of the blue ocean away.

I’m putting the chirps of birds away.

I’m putting away the taste of warm tacos.

Now it’s time for WINTER!
